Year: 2021
The author cherishes every moment spent with her 96 year only friend and aunt Irene Piccolo who went to be with the Lord on March 17th 2021, Irene was the author's good friend Lynn Malecki's dear mother. Without Lynn, the author would have not met such a wonderful soul and she thanks Lynn for this gift. Here is a tribute to Irene Piccolo and the author misses her a lot.
God sat upon His throne and looked down on the Earth
He saw Irene Piccolo, the rose He had created from birth
He had a perfect plan for her, for decades to grow and bloom
She grew beautiful and strong and raised a family soon.
A loving wife and mother was she
Absolutely loyal to her family
She fought the winds and stood up straight, always a smile on her face
Elegantly and boldly, she ran the race.
She would tell great stories of her younger days;
You could tell her memory was great
She loved her dear husband Philip and cried when he was gone
Her heart broke into a million pieces, but her petals were still strong
Her pretty daughter and her three sons continued to be her shield
She was the only brave rose standing tall in that field
Her petals started fading slowly, her will power still strong
She was still too alert and could tell right from wrong
Spreading her fragrance wherever she went
She obeyed "The Master" till the end
God saw her withered petals fading under the sun
But he did not allow a single petal to fall to the ground
He saw that she was tired and picked her up for her last journey
Laid her in His palms and took her home gently
He placed her in His garden and gave her eternal rest
She beautified God's garden, He only takes the best
You taught us how to love and cherish
And live your life to the fullest
Because that is what matters after all
The legacy you left behind is the greatest of all
